Casino Roulette is a game of numbers – single numbers, groups of numbers, highs and lows, reds and blacks, odds and evens, columns, squares, sixers and dozens. These numbers and their different combinations are what excite the players and keep them enticed to play more.
So how to play these numbers? To begin with, everyone must remember that the roulette Game has some benefit for the casino, commonly called as the ‘house edge’. On the American wheel it is 5.26% percent whereas, on the European wheel, the edge is 2.7%.
The American wheel has 38 numbers and the European one has 37. The payout for the single inside number is 35:1 in either case. There are two sets of numbers – one on roulette wheel spread in a circular manner and another on the layout where they are arranged in sets of twelve. With these basics in place, let’s explore a few tactics to play roulette –
1. Inside Single Number bets
These are the highest paying bets – with wager placed on inside single numbers. Winnings are 35:1, which leads many players to employ this bet. However, as experience states, there are often many losses before a winning wager is hit.
2. Inside Split bets
In this case, the bet is placed onto two neighboring numbers, vertical or horizontal, and the winnings are 17:1. This increases the probability of wins as compared to above. However, the house edge remains the same. Effectively, the net loss per unit currency staked stays the same.
3. Street bets
Here, the player can bet on three neighboring numbers, horizontally and the payout is 11:1. Again, the goal is to increase the chances of wins but the returns are proportionately lowered. In other words, this reduces the losing streak that a player may encounter. But as always, the house edge continues to have its effect in favor of the casino.
4. Corner or Square bets
The player has an option to bet on any four adjoining numbers, horizontally or vertically. The returns get proportionately adjusted to 8:1. A ‘corner’ bet will allow the player to wager on a ‘corner of four’ numbers of the layout whereas any four neighboring numbers can be wagered under a ‘square’ bet.
5. Six Line or Sixer bets
Here, the player can wager any six numbers in adjacent horizontal rows of the layout and win a payout of 5:1. This improves the chances of wins significantly and is the most preferred strategy.
6. Column and Dozen bets
These are outside bets and the player gets to wager on twelve numbers simultaneously, thereby drastically reducing the possibility of losing. For example, if a player bets on 2 dozen or columns, the probability of winning is as high as 24/37 or 24/38, depending upon roulette type. Naturally, the returns are only 2:1.
7. Odd-number, Even-number, Colored (Red / Black), High (19-36) and Low (0-18) bets
All of these bets are equivalent in terms of returns and fetch the player a winning of 1:1.
The online roulette game is fun to play as long as the players do not get swayed by the results. The game should always be played with the knowledge that the house edge always favors the casino.
